Por qué en Madrid hay más usuarios de Facebook que habitantes
Sabemos que el 27% de los 34 millones de españoles mayores de edad posee una cuenta de Facebook, bien. Pero para llegar a la audiencia consumidora de redes sociales hay que conocer dónde está, dónde actúa y dónde se comunica.
Tomamos como referencia las estadísticas de uso de la red social en las principales ciudades del país para presentar dos grupos diferenciados:
Aquellas que no superan la media de 27% de usuarios como La Coruña y Vizcaya con un 23% o Alicante y Sevilla con no más del 13%. Y las que superan de manera sorprendente la media, como Barcelona o Madrid con un 51% y un 126% respectivamente.
En el caso de Barcelona las cifras reflejan que la inmersión de las redes sociales no está exclusivamente relacionada con la población, sino más bien con la actividad de cada ciudad, a nivel comercial, cultural y social. Y que por tanto la información compartida en cada perfil estará muy ligada a alguno de estos fines.
En Madrid por su parte, el porcentaje de usuarios de Facebook supera a priori inexplicablemente en casi un 30% al de los censados en la provincia. Y esto viene a confirmar que muchos de los residentes en la capital siguen censados en sus provincias de origen, probablemente con el doble objetivo de beneficiarse profesional y personalmente de las ventajas de Madrid como marca y con el interés por otro lado de tener voz y voto en el desarrollo de sus regiones natales.
Observamos por tanto que los datos que nos aporta Facebook no siempre son representativos de la realidad demográfica de una comunidad, sino más bien de los intereses de sus miembros. Y es entonces cuando deberíamos preguntarnos qué datos nos interesa más tener medir o tener en cuenta para definir nuestro target: ¿Los facilitados por Facebook – reflejo de los intereses de la persona? ¿O los aportados por el INE, reflejo de la realidad del usuario?
Y además, ¿Cómo llegamos a aquellos que no comparten sus datos personales en la red social? ¿Debería Facebook tener en cuenta otras variables para determinar la ciudad habitual de cada cuenta y ofrecernos datos más ajustados?

La poblaciónresidente en cada provincia es recogida de los datos públicos del INE y el número de usuarios de Facebook se calcula en este caso tomando como referencia las cifras aportadas por la propia red sobre los registrados en principales núcleos urbanos y las poblaciones situadas 80 km a la redonda.
