Zaragoza y Sevilla son las ciudades más contaminadas de España
La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) ha analizado la polución en más de 1.000 ciudades de todo el mundo, entre las que figuran 28 españolas, y el dato más llamativo es que Zaragoza y Sevilla son las más contaminadas. El informe ha calculado el volumen de partículas nocivas de menos de 10 micras en el aire y ha llegado a la conclusión de que en estas dos localidades hay 45 microgramos por metro cúbico (µg/m3).
Para hacerse una idea de lo que esto significa, por encima de 20 es perjudicial para la salud. Pese a doblar esta cifra, ni Sevilla ni Zaragoza están entre los líderes mundiales, un privilegio que alcanzan Ahwaz (Irán), con 372; Ulan Bator (Mongolia), con 279); y Samandaj (Irán) con 254. El cálculo es fácil: estas ciudades multiplican por 20 los máximos recomendados por la OMS, por lo que respirar en ellas puede ser mortal.
En España solo tres ciudades de las analizadas se quedan por debajo del umbral recomendado: Santiago (18 µg/m3), Logroño 19) y Badajoz (20). En general, las ciudades del interior parecen tener peor aire que las de la costa. La OMS recuerda que la contaminación es responsable de la muerte anual de más de 2 millones de personas.
