Barcelona y Bilbao hacen frente común para competir con Madrid
Las ciudades también compiten entre sí. Y como en España es Madrid la que gana en casi todos los parámetros económicos, Barcelona y Bilbao han decidido conformar un frente común para eclipsar a la capital del Estado. Los alcaldes de ambas ciudades, Xavier Trias e Iñaki Azkuna, han firmado un convenio de colaboración para reforzar las sinergias entre la ciudad catalana y la vasca.
Barcelona y Bilbao colaborarán en materias de promoción económica y turística, innovación urbana, ecología, nuevas tecnologías, proyección internacional y fomento de la cultura. Las dos ciudades se consideran a sí mismas “paradigmas de transformación urbana en el ámbito internacional” y quieren ahora aprovechar esa circunstancia para ser motores económicos y de atracción de proyectos e inversiones de futuro.
Asimismo, conscientes del reto que representa la actual coyuntura económica, Barcelona y Bilbao acuerdan propiciar la cooperación entre instituciones económicas de las dos ciudades e impulsar la relación entre Barcelona Activa y Bilbao Ekintza. También compartirán el desarrollo de sistemas y modelos de gestión para hacer más eficiente la Administración pública.
Barcelona y Bilbao reforzarán la cooperación municipal en todos los ámbitos considerados estratégicos o de especial interés para ambas ciudades, principalmente en materia de ecotecnología, soluciones urbanas y ciudades inteligentes. Otro de los aspectos del convenio es el intercambio de experiencias para fomentar conjuntamente el posicionamiento y la imagen de Barcelona y Bilbao en el ámbito internacional, colaborando en el trabajo en las redes internacionales en que participan las dos ciudades.
Las dos capitales intercambiarán experiencias en el ámbito de las políticas culturales, con especial atención a la internacionalización de sus creadores y a la producción cultural local, así como a los ámbitos de la gestión del patrimonio, las industrias culturales y creativas, y el fomento del conocimiento y la utilización de las lenguas catalana y vasca.
