Barcelona acogerá una cumbre anual sobre innovación urbana
Barcelona acogerá a principios de julio del año que viene una nueva cumbre sobre innovación urbana que se configura como “un Davos de la nueva ciudad del siglo XXI”, en palabras del teniente de alcalde de Hábitat Urbano, Antoni Vives. Esta nueva cita internacional, que reunirá a expertos de diversas ciudades y disciplinas de primer nivel, ha surgido gracias a un acuerdo entre el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona y el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachussets.
En la cumbre se abordará un nuevo modelo de hábitat urbano basado en barrios productivos a escala humana dentro de una ciudad inteligente de cero emisiones. Este es precisamente el nuevo modelo de urbe de Barcelona que lidera el alcalde Xavier Trias, basado en la autosuficiencia energética y la nueva industrialización adelantada.
El proyecto barcelonés ha generado expectación internacional en la reunión mundial de la Red Fab Labs en Lima, donde ha sido presentado por Vives y donde se ha llegado al acuerdo de celebrar la cumbre sobre innovación en la capital catalana. En este sentido, el físico y director del Center for Bits and Atoms del Instituto Tecnológico de Massachussets, Neil Gershenfeld, ha afirmado que “Barcelona puede ser un magnífico laboratorio para dar un nuevo impulso a las ciudades a través de nuevas tecnologías y de un nuevo humanismo”.
