Municipios que han desaparecido
Alguna vez hemos hablado en este blog de nuevos municipios creados en España. Pues bien, también los hay que han desaparecido, normalmente por integrarse en otros para conformar una entidad más grande, tal y como se ha empezado a hacer en Grecia para ahorrar dinero público y también se pretende hacer en Valencia y UPyD ha propuesta hacer en toda España.
Se trata en concreto de Darrícal (Almería), Palmerola (Girona), Alcorlo (Guadalajara), Fresnedo (León) y Torrecilla del Ducado (Guadalajara). Véamoslos.
Darrícal. Es desde 1997 una pedanía del municipio almeriense de Alcolea (Almería). Lo que sucedió es que el pueblo fue perdiendo población, como consecuencia de la emigración y de la construcción de un embalse, hasta quedarse con apenas 20 habitantes, la mayoría muy mayores. Los vecinos votaron y decidieron que tenía más sentido integrarse en Alcolea, al menos durante 50 años. Curiosamente, lo que nunca dejó de tener fueron fiestas patronales el segundo fin de semana de agosto, ya que el pueblo recibe un número importante de veraneantes.
Palmerola. En 1988 se incorporó a Les Llosses por votación de sus 20 vecinos. Al igual que en Darrícal, el pueblo había ido perdiendo población de manera constante. De hecho, en el siglo XIX era una localidad relativamente importante con 432 habitantes y un viejo castillo.
Alcorlo. En 1987 se unió a La Toba. Una vez más, la construcción de un embalse había acabado físicamente con el pueblo, por lo que no tenía mucho sentido que siguiera siendo un municipio independiente. Aunque en realidad a quien pertenece es a la Confederación Hidrográfica del Tajo, dueña del embalse.
Fresnedo. En 1987 su territorio se repartió entre dos municipios: Cubillos del Sil y Toreno. En este caso no está muy claro lo que llevó a los habitantes a tomar esta decisión, aunque sí es evidente que se trataba de un municipio muy amplio y con pequeñas casas repartidas por un amplio territorio.
Torrecilla del Ducado. En 1992 se integró de Sienes. Fue así por una razón fundamental: se había quedado sin población, tras perder progresivamente todos sus habitantes a lo largo del siglo XX. De hecho, hasta 1930 perteneció a otro municipio, Olmedillas.
